Description – A picture of huge stairs is being circulated in social media claiming that it is Ravana’s fort, Sri Lanka. Most of the people believe it and started sharing it across. But these huge stairs and similar kind of stairs can be seen in many of the archaeological sites and in the ancient palaces in Peru.

Ollantaytambo Ruins: Ollantaytambo is the former Inca administrative center. And it is the northern end of the Sacred Valley and also connects with Amazon at one end.

There were reasons behind this huge stair mystery. When Inca empire was in rule, palaces with huge stairs in Ollantaytambo were constructed. It is easy to get a clear view of people at the bottom, from the top of the fort that is situated in the hilly zone. The fortress was set on the huge stairs to protect themselves from the Spanish invaders. But there is also a regular-sized stair near the huge ones in which people can walk on. A clear top view of the archaeological site can be seen from the Temple of the Sun which is located in the hills.

Ollantaytambo Ruins is one of the popular and major tourist spots in the country of Peru that attracts many tourists every year. People have mistaken Inca’s Ollantaytambo ruins as Ravana’s fort.

Hence, it is clear that the huge stairs are nowhere related to Ravana.
